DIEGO'S QUILT

QUILT FRONT AND BACK (Monday May, 31)

I have made lots of progress on the quilt in just 24hrs.  Last night I had so much on my mind I could not sleep and so I got up and worked on th quilt.  It is amazing how I am able to forget all my troubles when I am quilting.  So I finished nearly the entire back last night.  Then finished the rest of it and the front today.

QUILT TOP ALMOST COMPLETE (Sunday May, 30)

I have been working on sewing the quilt top far too long.  So many things have been going on that I have had to delay working on it for about a week and a half.  Any how, here it is along with the soon to be recipient of the quilt.  He is really excited about it and asks me nearly every night to work on it.

The print of the primary fabric is Army print made out of Scooby Doo.  I have some border strips to add and then the front is complete.  I have about 1 week left to get it done in order to show the final product to our class.

WERE COMING ALONG!! (Friday May, 14)

Sewing the 9 patches takes time, but is quite easy.  Thankfully I have a sewing machine, I could not imagine doing it all by hand. We can see the character of the quilt building!  Diego is going to love it.

CUTTING OUT THE PIECES (Monday, May 3)

Cutting was very meticulous and time consuming, but in the end only took a couple of days.  It is exciting to put pieces together and see the fabrics really begin to work with each other!  Gotta keep working.

THE BEGINNING (Friday, April 30)

A few weeks ago a sign up sheet was passed around in our ward for a quilting class.  Perfect timing, I was just in middle of reorganizing.  SO I signed up.

The first task was for me to figure out who I was going to make the quilt for. My mom had already made a fantastic quilt for Alex (sock monkey print and banana print with a soft red back and fuzz ball border) and another for Carlos (bright Red and Blue, Dark brown; in modern Elephant designs, spots, and solids).  So I chose Diego.

I cannot tell you how hard it is to choose fabrics for a quilt.  Especially a boy, but then a boy who is out of the baby/toddler time period.  Any how, after 2 hours in Hobby Lobby, I managed to find the PERFECT fabrics.
